Oku Cultural and development association (OCDA) Texas branch began in 2013 when six Ok indigenes came together for the first time in Dallas Texas. Set in an apartment complex, these sons and daughters began the branch as a way to promote unity, peace, development, prosperity and to preserve the Oku culture among the Oku community resident in Texas. As time went by, and word of mouth carried, the membership of the branch has grown to a larger number, which we felt better expressed the mission of the branch. Today, OCDA Texas has brought many Oku sons and daughters together and will continue to span our rich cultural heritage to our African American children and the younger generations to come.
